Hallucination date - October 2016
Approximately two years ago when I was first admitted to this ward, I was in a lot more pain and subsequently I was on a lot more medication. This included regular doses, four times a day of Morphine, Diazepam and Oxycodone. The Morphine especially caused me to have loads of hallucinations and this post details one of them, fortunately i'm not on these meds any more.
Around two am I woke up and called the nurse using the call bell. The Night Duty Nurse and the HCA (Health Care Assistant) came to see what the problem was. They found me very awake with my eyes wide open, scared and very agitated.
I screamed at them HELP, HELP, this was delivered with a torrent of abuse and swearing, which was also common for me at the time. Luckily they did not take too much notice of this as sadly they were used to it from me. The duty nurse asked me “are you in pain?” I shouted “of course not, CERN, CERN, you need to call CERN right now.” They asked me who is CERN and assumed it was one of my friends. HCA asked me “what is the number of CERN?” I answered with a plausible sounding number but not a UK one. I repeated the number several times, which made it sound even more convincing. Add in your own expletives every other word. The nurses left and had a conversation about what to do, they decided not to phone a random foreign number at two in the morning. They returned to my room and told me it was a wrong number. I then shouted “there is going to be an apocalypse, everyone is in danger, it’s going to be the end of the world.” “There is no time to mess about just call them now!” After hearing all that, they left the room to discussed what to do, they sensibly decided to tell me a fib and came back to tell me not to worry as they will call them. Once i heard that I quickly calmed down and fell asleep again.
In the morning I could not remember any of it at all. One of the staff spoke to her partner and asked them who or what was CERN. They were very surprised she did not know and explained what it was.
I was only told about this hallucination last week and I have no recollection of this at all.
It would of been very funny if they actually called them and told them my message.
(CERN, European Organization for Nuclear Research)
Situated there, is the LHC ( Large Hadron Collider) this is the world's largest particle collider, its circular and 27 kilometers. Its deep underground and crosses between Switzerland and France. It accelerates particles to 99.999% of the speed of light. Then smashes them into each other, to create new particles. It's a fascinating project and i strongly advise you to read more.

If you were the nurse what do you think you would do, would you try to call?
I wouldn't call. I know what CERN is (thanks to you of course).
