This is a dream about me being an octopus, my life, and what it is like to be a creature underwater. This is a nice dream. Please put your comments on the blog. If you don’t, I would like your permission to move them.
Octopus-
I was born a blue octopus, which is very rare. My Mum gave me the name of the blue gladiator, ‘Spartacus’ which meant I was very strong and powerful. I was abandoned and left to go my own way. I did not like this and promised myself I would never do this to my offspring when I was old enough to meet a mate.
I met ‘Trixanella’ and she was also a blue octopus. I loved the way she caught her prey and I fell in love with her straight away. I went and talked to her using the octopus sign language. It was obvious she felt the same way, so we got married and made love quite quickly and she fell pregnant.
She had six little blue children. She promised to look after them and fend off any predators. We both felt the same way about the siblings and my new wife promised to look after our children, I said I was very happy, so she was happy. I would find prey. The prey went into our mouth and she would regurgitate it. After a while, she would do a bit of hunting herself.
We lived in a stream and salt water would come in through a lock, we would never hunt near the lock because people would try to catch prey there as it was an easy pick since that was where the salt water would come in. People would use nets and then tins filled with poison to catch prey if they caught an octopus, they would put it on land where it could survive for quite a long time but they would knock it out using a rock or a heavy object and then they would kill it by pulling inside out.
They did not know what would happen once Trixanella got caught in a net, she had the power all blue octopus had which meant her black ink was poisonous. They’re so poisonous that it would kill a person so she chewed away most of the net. She started spraying people and they had to throw her back into the water before she killed someone. She said ‘Never go near the lock’. I felt like telling her off, but it wasn’t her fault and I did not want to argue.
One day I decided that we would try to escape, I watched the lock carefully. It was hard to watch as people would use tins and poisonous worms to kill the prey. Sometimes I had to watch the people kill octopus. I had to swim away, I learned that the people would not come unless they had lanterns or gas lamps. These were easy to spot, so I decided the best time to escape would be when there was no kind of lamp.
When it was very late and there were no lamps we all swam very hard through the lock to the open sea. One sibling was missing, her name was ‘Naughty Raella’. She thought it would be funny to hide away from us but I was really angry. I didn't tell her off, I just said ‘ Naughty Raella don’t do that, I was really worried’. She said ‘Sorry, I promise I won't do it again.’ There were lots of rich and easy pickings, we hid under rocks and just feasted like kings but without the fear of being poisoned. It was great fun. Our bellies were strong but not fat.
Those times we went scuba diving had quite the profound effect on you Dan.
